The 2009/2010 sailing season has come to a close; the AGM was held; the old committee thanked for their efforts of the past year; the new committee elected and tasked to address key issues in the new season; the winter off season activities have started in preparation for the new season. Therefore I wish to take this opportunity to thank the past Committee for their support and commitment in making our club one of the most successful dingy clubs in South Africa over the past year. However, I wish to point out that is directly related to the commitment of our members, therefore wish for you to consider the following that was sent to me:
PRETORIA SAILING CLUB
Some members keep a club so strong, while others join just to belong.
Some dig right in and serve without fail, some go along just for the sail.
Some volunteer to do their share, while some lie back and just dont care.
Some do their best, some help, some make, some do nothing only take.
Some greet new members with a smile, and make their coming so worthwhile.
While some sail on their merry way, no greeting or kind word to say.
Some help the club to grow and grow, when asked to help they dont say No!
Some drag, some pull, some dont, some do,
consider which one of these are you?
On behalf of the new EXCO I wish to thank the old committee members who accepted re-election and the new members for coming on board, they are:
Commodore Mark Templeton
Vice Commodore Chris English
Rear Commodore Howard Hughes
Treasurer Faure Bosman
Secretary Anne English
Sailing Secretary Doreen Hughes
Boson Eric Quarmby
Quartermaster Elsabie Templeton
Development Officer Eddie Forster
Bookkeeper Brenda Tuckey
.
TRUSTEES
Rob Scott
Mike Meijer
Ken Stubbs
Wendy Geekie
Ralph Hodgen
On to old problematic issues covered over the last number of months which must be restated and addressed are:
Please remember to pay your annual subscriptions for the new season.
As part of this process, please support Howard in identifying your boats and parking bays, tagging both dollies and boats, ensuring that your membership records are correct and complete. Please note that if not done your boat will be moved into the abandoned storage area.
Once the boat parking has been cleared and the abandoned boats and trailers have been identified, the club will issue notification of disposal of boats in accordance to the clubs constitution.
On behalf of the new EXCO I wish to thank you all for your support last year and hope to see you sailing in the new season.
Yours in sailing
Mark Templeton
